What I long for
is to speak
my language
loud, clearly,
in front of the classroom.
I long to speak my language
– as the legitimate language of instruction
– not to be translated
– not as the exception
– not like we’ll return to English in just a sec
I long to speak and hear
my tongue
to share with others
like me
not like me
and tell the world about myself
and who I am.
