A Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Frail Elderly-Older Adult Network is seeking a nomination for the board of the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), the governing body for Canada’s 460,000 nurses.
This is the second attempt of Victoria Casas-Alcuaz, the clinical nurse specialist at Fraser Health Authority where she was CNS Pandemic Lead, Long Term Care Outbreaks.
Educated at the University of London where she obtained her MS in Cancer Critical Care, Oncology and Cancer Biology, Casas-Alcuaz has an extensive career in research and education spanning several decades.
“My goal is to be a strong advocate for those who will be recruited from overseas – the IEN’s like me who will be thrown in the workforce with very little support,” she asserts, adding that she “wants to ensure they succeed and stay for the next generations to come. This is my vision for this role.”
To be able to be vote for the nomination a nurse has to be an active member of the CNA. Deadline for submitting nominations is February 20, 2024. The term of the position is June 2024 to June 2026.
