“Help us bring Jake home,” friends appeal

Father dies in truck roll-over

By Ted Alcuitas

A 36-year old father died in a single-vehicle accident near  Rossburn, Manitoba on Monday, July 17. Rossburn is 193 miles northeast of Winnipeg.

Jake Madula was returning home from work with three of his co-workers when the accident happened at around 12:40 p.m.  according to police.

Police say there were four men in the truck at the time, and Madula was on the front seat. He  was ejected and killed at the scene. Another passenger received minor injuries, and the driver and remaining passenger were uninjured.

Alcohol is not considered to be a factor, but the deceased was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to police.

Friends of Madula has started up a GoFundMe  to help bring the body home to the Philippines where his wife Emely and five-year old son JM  is waiting. He was supposed to come home to join them next month.

The couple were looking forward to the birth of another  child this November.

A native of Laguna, Madula  became a Permament Resident last year.  He was later joined by his family  in the fall.

As of this writing the drive has raised $3,921 out of a $10,000 goal from 108 donors.
