School trustees
Three Filipino Canadian were successful in their bids as School Trustees in the Winnipeg School Division in yesterday’s municipal elections.
Dante Aviso (Ward 5), Perla Javate (Ward 6) and Ann Evangelista (Ward 9) will now have a place in a board that plays a very important role in education.
Elected for a four-year term School trustees’ prime responsibility is to function as a board to set policy regarding the provision of educational services.
Aviso is a realtor and active community volunteer.
Evangelista is a former teacher and Javate has been a liason worker for the Winnipeg School Division.
