Covid 19: A nurse survives to tell his story

Neil’s story

Filipino nurse Neil, worked at ICU at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre in Abbotsford, an hour’s drive east of Vancouver. While he has been out for four months now, he is still facing a lot of issues, according to a close friend.

Here is a Facebook post by the hospital.

“It made COVID real.” We often request support from and express gratitude to those assisting us in the fight against COVID-19 – but how many of us know the real faces behind the statistics? Listen to this powerful story about an Abbotsford Regional Hospital’s ICU Nurse’s personal battle with COVID-19, which he refers to as “uncharted territory” and how his ARH coworkers rallied to support him. We all appreciate you amazing ARH staff – but we bet nobody appreciates you more than Neil! Thank you to our frontline heroes like Neil who put their lives on the line every day to care for their community.”
The hospital reported an outbreak of Covid-19 cases in May this year with six staff and one patient positive with the virus.
