What do we know about Vietnamese culture besides Phở?

At “Mai Đào: A Glimpse into Vietnamese Culture”, you will have the opportunity to broaden your knowledge of Vietnam through a delightful evening full of dance, music and theatre. Not only will this event present our beautiful culture to Canada’s multicultural community, but it will also nourish the cultural connections between Vietnamese Canadians and their homeland. Starting at 7pm on Saturday October 27th 2018 at the Norman Rothstein Theatre, this event will feature various performances by artists such as composer and dan bau player Hoang Bic, the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra(VICO), accordionist Ha Sam, the Bánh Mì Barbershop, Gathering and Singing music band, performers of SEACHS, singer and actor Thai-Hoa Le, singer and dancer Trang Huyen Nguyen, stage director Dennis D. Gupa, as well as with the special participation of US-based playwright, stage director and actress Minh-Ngọc Nguyễn.

On October 30 (Tuesday), Gupa will present his work-in-progress doctoral applied theatre project at the Atrium Studio (home of the Kokoro Dance) Woodward Heritage Building at 7:30 PM.

In this performance, Gupa is collaborating with 3 Filipino artists based in Manila, 2 UVIC theatre actors, and several members of the Bayanihan Center in Victoria.
