Filipino food lovers in British Columbia (BC) are in for a treat as fast-food giant—Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC)— is set to open its first store this Friday, February 25, 2022.

Jollibee’s first BC location at 833 Granville Street will only cater to take-out orders. Dine-in, online ordering and delivery services are slated in the following weeks, according to Dished Vancouver.

After over two years of delaying the opening of its new stores due to the pandemic, excitement built up earlier this month as exterior finishing work and the putting up of the signature Jollibee sign were noticed.

They also put up a job hiring announcement for service crew, stockman, dishwasher and driver positions.

Jollibee’s plans to set up a new downtown restaurant was reported by Dished Vancouver in the spring of 2020.

After that, news to open branches in the Strawberry Hill Shopping Centre complex and in 9900 King George in Surrey were also revealed.

However, Dished Vancouver, in an update yesterday, reported that the new locations will be on Cambie and West Broadway in Vancouver aside from the one in Strawberry Hill Shopping Centre.

Jollibee has 270 international branches but announced an ambitious plan to open 250 stores across North America by 2023.

Its website reports that it enjoys the lion’s share of the fastfood market in the Philippines, with the sales of its famous Chickenjoy, Yumburger and Filipino-style Jolly Spaghetti, among others.

JFC reported a net income of P5.9 billion (CAD147.5 million) last year, a reversal of the P11.5 billion (CAD287 million) loss recorded in 2020, according to the Philippine Star

In the fourth quarter last year, JFC posted a net income of P3.24 billion (CAD81 million), up 59.6 percent from P2.03 billion (CAD50.7 million) in the same period in 2020, it added.
