A Filipina scholar who is finishing her doctorate at the University of Calgary is seeking participants for a research she is conducting.
Maria Socorro Mangila-Nguyen is looking for Filipino high school youths in Vancouver to participate in a research project about their early years in Canada, experiences in school, and interactions with peers, friends, and family. (See poster for details)
Mangila-Nguyen is a social worker who is completing her doctoral studies at the University of Calgary. She finished her Master and Bachelor of Arts in SocialWork at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 2001.
She is currently working as part-time Executive Director of the Vancouver and Lower Mainland Multicultural Family Support Services.
Married to a Vietnamese, she grew up in Zamboanga City and studied at the Ateneo de Manila University.
