Royal Roads features Tina Brillantes in ad

Calgary, Alberta

Only woman of colour in branding ad

By Ted Alcuitas
Tina Brillantes is the only minority among seven  former graduates of  Royal Roads University in a corporate branding ad campaign launched last year.

The Calgary resident who completed her MA in Leadership at the university’s Victoria, B.C. campus is currently Team Lead, Neighbourhood Coordination in the City of Calgary.

According to the ad, Brillantes “never saw herself as an academic, fearful of starting her Master’s degree.”

“It was her teachers, advisors and classmates at Royal Roads that she says gave her the courage to endure. Graduating with a 4.12 GPA and a Chancellor’s Award, Tina believes she is changed. Now she walks into every room with confidence, knowing that she can take on anything.”

The  ads run in transit shelters and on buses in Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto, as well as digital ads and videos online and in elevators.

Brillantes was featured by the Vancouver-based Silangan newspaper in its July 2009 issue along with three other graduates – Nicole Ignacio, Easter Tocol and Greg Edwards.
