Winnipeg, Manitoba
Two teenage friends died in a drowning accident August 1 at the popular Grand Beach, about an hour’s drive from Winnipeg.
David Medina, 12, and Jhonalyn Javier, 11 were playing together in the water, supervised by the boy’s parents, when one of the parents lost track of the kids because of the setting sun, according to Police.
Medina is from Dasmarinas, Cavite and a recent immigrant according to media reports.
Jhonalyn also recently came to Canada with her family last year from the Philippines, Facebook postings said. They are from Angeles City, Pampanga.
“We, the family, needs your prayers and in that way we can be stronger not only emotionally but also spritually. David is such a true blessing from God. He leave us with good memories. Very sweet or in tagalog ‘malambing’ I always remember how he laughed so loud when his mom and dad plays with him,” Cindy Isabelo, David’s aunt told CTV News.
