We’ve been attacked

Because we speak the truth, we have been attacked.
Yesterday, (April 23) our messages through Facebook’s Messenger App contained a fake link: pcn.com which will open up to a pitch for selling our domain name and asking for your information. Our correct link is PhilippineCanadianNews.Com and not pcn.com.
Clearly this is designed to confuse our readers and we have no doubt it is the work of trolls under the employ of the Marcos-Duterte machinery to counter our exposes of their lies and propaganda.
This comes right after our email account was hacked and I suspect they are also trying to hack our website.
This is not the first time we were attacked. Some months ago, Facebook blocked some of our posts allegedly because it violated ‘community standards’ and yet they (Facebook) continued to allow a fake Bongbong Marcos supporters page allegedly from Latin America despite my reporting it to them.
In this day and age, we are aware that social media is weaponized to spread lies and misinformation – that is a fact of life and we are not immune to it.
But let our enemies – whoever they are, wherever they are, know that we are not intimidated by these attacks.
When we choose to tell the truth and expose the Duterte regime, we know we will face the wrath of the powers that be.
Forty years ago during the Marcos dictatorship (yes, the father of the current candidate for President), we took a stand against the tyrant.
In Winnipeg, Manitoba, we co-founded the anti-Marcos movement – ATOM ( acronym for August Twenty One Movement, the date of the Aquino assassination). ATOM was the only anti-Marcos group in Canada and myself and my family were viciously attacked by the Marcos minions. Attacks that included harassing phone calls, etc. that included threats of death.
And so today, at this juncture of our history when our motherland is facing another threat to its freedom and democracy with the possibility of a Marcos-Duterte return to power, I urged our kababayans abroad to vote against evil.
You have the power in your hands – if you are able to vote as dual citizens, but more so if you have your cell phones.
Use social media to fight against evil and lies by ‘clicking’ on your phones. Send a message to your family, relatives, friends and anybody you know, and let them vote wisely – to vote for the Leni Robredo-Kiko Pangilinan team and Senators.
The fate of our motherland depends on you and me.
