The Surrey-based community organization, SPIDS, (acronym for Surrey Philippine Independence Day Society) now on its 12th year, is taking a different approach to celebrate Filipino Heritage Month June.
Instead of having the usual public celebrations, the society is holding a holding a month-long blood donation drive for Canadian Blood Services, a society release says.
“ In honor of Filipino Heritage Month, of which the official declaration last year our Society worked hard for to support back in its 2018 motion, and in lieu of organizing even an smaller event to celebrate it this year, we will just prioritize giving back to the community at large by holding a month-long (June) blood donation drive for Canadian Blood Services.
We call on all our members, family, supporters, and friends to register as donor, and upon eligibility, to book a schedule to donate at their earliest convenience. Committed and eligible Officers of the organization will be at the Canadian Blood Services Guildford (Surrey) Branch office on June 4th to kick off the campaign.
Details and link about the campaign will be posted momentarily on our Facebook page [https://www.facebook.com/SPIDSGroup/] and Twitter Account [https://twitter.com/SPIDSGroup]
