Excellence in Performance by a Female Identifying Artist or Best Female Artist

Glisha Dela Cruz won the Best Female Artist award at last night’s 2020 Fraser Valley Music Award. The first-time nominee did not win the RnB Award but the Best Female Artist came as a surprise since it was not announced until the very end, according to mom Narima Dela Cruz.

She was one of the artists featured in the virtual event and performed her second Singles song ‘Scars and Scratches’ (link:  https://youtu.be/D5VwuogAQHY) .

Dela Cruz was last year’s winner of the Joey Awards for her ‘Over Myself’ single. Both songs were written by her.

CBC’s Sook-Yin Lee gave the keynote address

This is the tenth anniversary of the popular music event held by CIVL 101.7 on FM radio. Over $10,000 cash awards were given and each individual category winner received $350 cash prize.

Awards were presented in 15 different categories, and for the second year feature a Fan Vote, this time with all nominees eligible for voting.

The awards, now in their fifth year, are an initiative of CIVL Radio, the University of the Fraser Valley’s campus and community radio station, and were first hosted in July 2016 after a year-long grant project funded by the Community Radio Fund of Canada.
