A Vancouver actress was assaulted while walking inside Burnaby’s Metrotown Mall yesterday (March 14, 2022).

Movie actress Zenia Marshall told Philippine Canadian news.Com in a Messenger chat that she was strolling in the busy suburban mall at about 7:00  PM with a friend when a woman walking beside her pushed her with both hands.

According to Marshall, her friend witnessed the whole attack and the attacker simply walked away.

Marshall took a picture and a video of her attacker and posted it on her Facebook page. She believes her attacker is the same 32-year old Hayun Song who was charged with attacking an elderly woman in the Metrotown Skytrain Station on April 3, 2020. Song was arrested on Feb. 2021 after an 11-month investigation and is reportedly scheduled to appear in court on March 25, 2022 for two other assaults.

Marshall said she reported the incident to mall security and police.

Vancouver has the most number of anti-Asian incidents in North America in recent years, according to a study.  Although the racist attacks was exarcerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, Vancouver has always experienced anti-Asian racism in the past.
