Sinag-Araw Writing Workshop

Calling all Filipino youth aged 15-24! Sinag-Araw is a seven-week poetry writing workshop held every Tuesday from October 8 to November 19 from 7-9pm at the ArtStarts Lab, located at 808 Richards Street. Participants will grow their artistic practice as poets by experimenting with different forms and genres, learning skills such as public readings and submitting to literary magazines, and giving and receiving feedback to one another. During the workshop, we will draw inspiration from Filipino culture, history, and identity to create poetry, and also learn a little bit about the history of poetry in the Philippines.

Participants in the Sinag-Araw Writing Workshop have an opportunity to submit to a chapbook anthology that will be published by Rahila’s Ghost Press. There will be a public launch of the chapbook in January where they can read their poetry alongside established, well-renowned Filipino writers in the community and celebrate their work with their friends and family.

-Workshop participants must be FIlipino youth aged 15-24
-The workshop is every Tuesday from October 8 to November 2019, from 7-9pm at the ArtStarts Lab on 808 Richards Street
-No publishing or writing experience necessary
