Breaking: Fire rages in Carcar City

Fire is raging right now in the City of Carcar, 45 kms. south of the capital Cebu City, according to posts from netcitizens.

Ironically, none of Cebu’s daily newspapers has posted anything about the fire.

This is the second major fire in the city with a population of close to 200,000 and famous for its lechon, ampao  and chicharron.

According to netcitizens, the fire is located just across the Katipunan Bank on Nellas St. in Poblacion 3  just a few meters before crossing the main bridge into the city.

Among residences affected by the fire are that  of former Judge Minoy Enriquez, Taloy Ramos and Cesar Alfafara, according to Facebook posts from Carcaranons.

Six firefighting brigades from neighbouring towns have responded in helping fight the fire including from Lapulapu City.

According to netcitizens, Carcar has only one firetruck despite its size and population.

A major fire about ten years ago in the same district in Nellas St. resulted in the loss of five houses.

An email to the city’s fire department was not answered as of this posting.
