Hospital foundation honours Victoria Casas-Alcuaz as recipient of 2023 award

As National Nurses Week is celebrated throughout Canada this week, Vancouver nurse Victoria Casas-Alcuaz has been chosen to receive the 2023 VGH and UBCH Foundation Awards. Awarding ceremonie happens today, May 12.
The Fraser Health clinical nurse specialist was recently nominated to the board of the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA).

The Manila-born and bred nurse went to Paco Catholic Elementary and H.S. and completed her Bachelors in Nursing, CumLaude,(BSN) and Masters at Concordia College in Manila.
She had a varied experience as clinical Instructor and Board Reviewer in the Philippines when she decided to go abroad to “cope with the grief in losing her mother”, she told Philippine Canadian News.Com.
From 2004- 2007, she took up a Masters Program in Haemato-oncology at University of West London,Northwest London Hospital and MS as a Nurse Practitioner in Cancer Critical Care in Chelsea, England.
Drawn to Vancouver’s mountains, she moved here from England in 2007. She was CNS for Hospice Palliative Care at Fraser Health, led and run ICU research at St. Paul’s Hospital among many others.
She is also quite an expert in computerization, having founded and run the AMA Computer School, running the school as administrator for three years including consulting with the Pasig City Mayor on Computerization.
Her many recognitions and awards include Fraser Health’s GreenCare 2020 Environmental Performance Accountability for her contribution to workplace environmental initiatives. She was cited for “her passion for environmental sustainability, resilient health care and commitment to building a culture of change even during the pandemic.”
