Celebration of Filipino culture and cuisine on August 5-7

A celebration of Filipino culture and cuisine will again take center stage in the  Saskatchewan Filipino Music and Food Street Festival 2022 this August 5, 6 and 7 at the Kiwanis Memorial Park.

With the theme “Bring the taste and music of the Philippines to you,” Filipino food, live bands, dancers, family-oriented games and crafts and a live karaoke challenge will be among the featured activities this year.

This event is presented by Filipino-owned AGA Academy which will open its doors in Saskatchewan soon.

The festival’s Guest of Honor will be the first Filipina elected as Member of Parliament, MP Richie Valdez – Mississauga Streetsville.

MP Valdez will also be the keynote speaker for Women Empowerment Day on August 6, together with AGA President and Chief Executive Officer Abby Villanueva.

Filipino cooks and talented musicians and performers from all over Saskatchewan will also show how talented Filipinos are and promote appreciation for Filipino culture here in Canada.

Saskatoon Mayor Charlie Clark will give the welcome speech whileHealth Minister Paul Merriman – MLA for Saskatoon Silver Springs –

Sutherland, MP Saskatoon West Brad Redekopp and MLA Saskatoon Fairview Vicki Mowat as well as City Councilors Darren Hill, David Kirton and Bev Dubois are among the special guests.

MP Salma Zahid – Scarborough Centre ON will also be part of the event’s opening ceremony.

The event aims to be a venue for Filipino and Canadian families to bond and enjoy. Activities for children include face painting, a magic show and balloon fun.
