Anonymous donour paid for ticket

By Ted Alcuitas

Allan Par, the Filipino immigrant who dreamed of building a life in Canada is finally heading home to the Philippines to join his siblings.

An anonymous donour came up with his one-way ticket to the Philippines while a GoFund Me campaign ended up with $2500 cash for Mr. Par to bring home.

According to a report made by Dante Aviso, who started the fundraising campaign after media coverage of Par’s plight, he is set to fly home to Manila soon.

Par filled up his travel documents at the Philippine Consulate and expressed his “sincere gratitude to everyone who helped him”. Dennis Castaneda assisted Allan Par for his travel documents . Deputy consul Bernadette Fernandez from Philippine Consulate in Toronto had a consular outreach in Winnipeg at the time .

Aviso also expressed his thanks for the support in a public post in his Facebook page.

Mr. Par has lived in a shack that he built out of discarded and  donated materials under a parking bridge in the outskirts of Winnipeg for these past years after losing his job.

He also suffered a trauma from the recent death of his father whose funeral he couldn’t attend for lack of money.

According to media reports, he just wants to go home to join his siblings and rebuild his life.

Here is a screen grab of the message of Allan’s sister from the Philippines after receiving the news that her brother was coming home.
