NAIA terminal fee hike goes unopposed in public hearing
MANILA – Travelers passing through the Ninoy Aquino International Airport face higher terminal fees after the proposed adjustment received no oppositions during the public hearing held late Tuesday.
Authorities proposed to increase terminal fees for international flights to P750 from P550, and domestic flights to P300 from P200.
The new terminal fees may be imposed in as early as April 2019, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said.
MIAA general manager Ed Monreal said the higher fees would cover infrastructure and service improvements at the county’s main gateway.
MIAA’s finance department said the agency might experience a deficit if the increase would not push through.
The airport authority earns P4 billion annually and 36 percent of collections come from terminal fees.
