Surrey community mourns passing of Nemecio ‘Nhemy’ Cepeda
“The Surrey Filipino community is mourning the loss of a great friend and a dedicated community leader,” Surrey Philippine Independence Day Society (SPIDS) says in an FB post.
Nhemy died just a month short of his 77th birthday on June 28, 2021.
Predeceased by his parents Santiaga and Jesus, first wife Merlyn and brother Jun, he leaves behind his wife Hannalyn, son JJ, daughter Elizabeth & son in-law Jeff, grandchildren Jianna, Jasmine and Jaelynn, sisters Anastasia & Leticia and brother Mario.
Nhemy was active in the community and was a former president of Zodiac Society of BC. He became involved with the Surrey Philippines Independence Society (SPIDS) from 2009 until his death.
