Robredo-Pangilinan supporters kick off campaign
Charmaine Rodriguez Kara
Supporters of Leni Robredo and Kiko Pangilinan will kick off the campaign period with a unique public event—a journey over Metro Vancouver using public transportation.
“It will be on Sunday, February 6, 2022, and will be uniquely done using Vancouver’s Skytrain, Seabus and bus system,” said Treenee Lopez, main organizer of the Vancouver Canada Pink Caravan of Hope.
A spinoff of last year’s Pink Caravan for Leni and Kiko all over the world, including one in Canada last November 2021, this Sunday’s “Tara Canada Biyahe Tayo Para Kay Leni and Kiko” will take the campaign to new heights through public transportation and engaging more people, Lopez added.
The Canada-wide Pink Caravan of Hope was participated in by Robredo and Pangilinan supporters in the cities of Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria, Winnipeg and Vancouver.
Last December 18, the group also held its first Pink Christmas and each donated $1000 for the Typhoon Odette victims in Dinagat Island. It was given to the beneficiaries by the Kaya Natin Movement and Tanging Yaman Foundation on December 23
“I want all KakamPINKs across the world to keep organizing events not just this kick off event but continuously to show our support to Leni and Kiko until the end. There are no other candidates like Leni Kiko to lead the Philippines in the right direction for the good of the country and its people,” Lopez added.
The event this Sunday is hosted by Global Filipinos for Leni (Canada) and the Vancouver Pink Caravan of Hope working team.
“It’s open to the public and it’s for free. Participants only need to pay for an all day transit pass and give their time,” Lopez added.
Mel Aganon, who is one of the organizers, said the event is aimed at encouraging Filipino voters in Canada that good governance, good public services and environment protection are possible, even for the Philippines.
This is a call for those who are able to go out and vote and to choose the right candidates.
“We must commit themselves to this duty, otherwise, all our celebrations will have no real meaning in affecting the outcome we all want,” he added.
The event will start at 12:30 noon at the Vancouver Convention Centre with an opening prayer. A welcome message and tour instructions by Aganon will follow.
The group will then proceed to the Lonsdale Quay Terminal for the sea bus segment of the event.
The next stop will be Stanley Park (at Bus Stop No.19) before proceeding, through the Skytrain, to the last stop, which is The next stop will be Stanley Park before proceeding, through the Skytrain, to the last stop which will be at the Mc Arthur Glen Designer Outlet Central Grounds (near Michael Kors, Kate Spade and Lacoste shops)in RichmondU.
Aside from wearing pink, participants are encouraged to be at all the stops. However, those who opt to skip some areas for personal health or safety concerns may do so, he also said.
